Keeping Your Dog Out of the Medic's Tent

Healthcare For Urban Dogs:
Dogs love the sweet taste of anti-freeze, but even a small amount can be lethal!
Don't give your dog Advil™, Nuprin™, or Tylenol™ -- they are toxic to a dog!
The best prevention for rabies is to keep your dog up to date on her rabies vaccination.
Keep your dog from drinking out of stagnant bodies of water, such as lagoons, ponds, and even puddles on the sidewalk. Quite a few bacterias and parasites can infest these small bodies of water.
Male dogs should be neutered at seven to nine months of age. Female dogs should be spayed at five to seven months of age, before they come into season.
It's difficult to train a dog and hold his attention when you're competing with his sex drive!
Dog's don't get cavities like people do, but dog's teeth can crack or break when given bones that are harder than their own teeth. Dog's shouldn't be given large shank bones. Your vet should check your dog's teeth at every visit and they should be cleaned every six to 24 months.
All reputable kennels will want to see the paper work confirming that your dog is current with all vaccinations. If they have no interest in seeing your vaccination papers, find a different kennel!
